As of May 2023, Emirates has dramatically upgraded its in-flight Wi-Fi service, thereby augmenting the passenger experience across all travel classes. The novel upgrades signify that passengers onboard can now enjoy complimentary app messaging. The enhanced service is an effortless, complimentary sign-up process for all Emirates Skywards members.

Regardless of membership tier, be it Blue, Silver, Gold, or Platinum, and independent of travel class, every Skywards member can enjoy the benefit of enhanced connectivity. Meanwhile, those travelling in Business Class will enjoy unlimited free internet, provided they are Silver, Gold, Platinum Skywards members or First Class travellers.

In an even more enticing development, Platinum Skywards members will enjoy complimentary internet access across all travel classes, thus transforming their flying experience by facilitating work or shopping online during their flight.

Furthermore, Emirates has unveiled plans to further expand its in-flight broadband services. Come 2024, the airline will introduce high-speed, in-flight broadband services on its 50 new Airbus A350 aircraft, thanks to a new agreement with Inmarsat’s GX Aviation. This state-of-the-art technology promises passengers enhanced connectivity, superior global coverage, and even uninterrupted service on routes crossing the Arctic.

On the other side of the world, Singapore Airlines is also taking strides in the same direction, extending complimentary unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi across all cabin classes, including Premium Economy and Economy. This service, effective from July 1, 2023, will be accessible across the airline’s entire fleet, except for the seven Boeing 737-800 NGs currently not equipped with Wi-Fi.

This upgraded offering will be virtually omnipresent across the global Singapore Airlines route network, thus significantly augmenting the passenger experience. To avail of this enhanced service, customers need to include their KrisFlyer membership details either at the point of booking via the Manage Booking online option or during check-in.

With these new developments, Emirates and Singapore Airlines are redefining the in-flight experience, ensuring passengers remain connected to their world even at cruising altitudes. Undoubtedly, such improvements bring a new level of convenience and comfort to air travel, reconfirming the airlines’ commitment to customer satisfaction. ◼
