Luxury vacations genuinely are the cream of the crop – lush and cosy bedrooms at heritage resorts filled with dreamy visions, exceptional food, history, charisma, and exciting adventures. Luxury vacations are the perfect way to destress and energize while spending some quality time with your loved ones. What if this luxury vacation could be taken on a train across the country? The new Orient Express La Dolce Vita gives you the chance to experience Italy and Europe on a 16,000 km long journey across the continent.

The project, signed by Arsenale S.p.A in association with Orient Express of Accor group will welcome its first passengers in 2023. The luxury rail tourism project will see six trains embarking across 14 regions. The trip will include three international destinations – from Rome to Paris, Istanbul and Split. The train experience is based on the first Orient Express Train launched by Georges Nagelmackers 150 years ago.

Stephen Alden, CEO Raffles and Orient Express, Accor, commented, “It is thrilling to be bringing the refined nomadic spirit of Orient Express back to life for a new generation of travellers. The original train route was innovative in the way it paradoxically brought cultures together – the Occident with the Orient, history with modernity. As artisans of travel, we wish to revive this old-world, awe-inspiring ‘journey to elsewhere’ and reconcile certain paradoxes: a journey and a destination, astonishment and inspiration, movement and contemplation.”

Orient Express’s La Dolce Vita Trains

The new Orient Express’ concept pays tribute to “La Dolce Vita”, Italy’s period of glamour, joie de vivre and artistic fervour in the 1960s. The train will offer an environmentally friendly adventure through 16,000 km, 7,000 of which are historical lines that have not been electrified. The trains embody the Italian art of living and the country’s traditions with a contemporary spirit of travel. The six trains are designed by Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran’s Dimorestudio, and each will have 11 cars consisting of 12 Deluxe cabins, 18 Suites, One Honour Suite, and a restaurant.

The luxury train will offer five-star service on board with a menu designed in collaboration with renowned local and international chefs and sommeliers. The menu will showcase the excellence of “Made in Italy.” The Orient Express executive lounge will be the first place to welcome the passengers at the Roma Termini station before departure. Passengers will be offered refreshments in the elegant space, with dedicated services and staff.

Paolo Barletta, CEO of Arsenale S.p.A explained, “We will take travellers to discover new itineraries, to unique places where they will be able to live a “Made in Italy” experience with a warmth entirely our own. The journey itself becomes the destination and Italy has never been so close and sensational.” Of the six trains, most will start in Italy and will take you through the Alps, the bucolic countryside, or to southern Italy’s gorgeous beaches. In addition, three dedicated itineraries will embark on a journey through 8 countries from Rome to Paris, Istanbul and Split.
